January is always a great time to reset and cleanse our body, mind, closets and practically everything! I have seen a lot of people starting dietary cleanses and although I may try that in the near future, I decided to focus on my face with a new skincare routine. I have had multiple requests to do a post on removing makeup at night and what moisturizers I use so I decided the New Year was a great time to share and get in a great skin care routine!
My mother told me as a child to “Never go to sleep with your makeup on!” (I’m proud to say I never have) As I mentioned in my, 27 & Dreaming post (you can see it here) I am super passionate about cleansing my skin and moisturizing. You would never run around in a puddle of mud, get all dirty and wet and not wash your body would you? Going to sleep with makeup on clogs your pores. never allows your skin to breathe and all of the free radicals you came in contact with stay on your skin and cause you to age. One night of sleeping in your makeup may not kill you, but being in a habit of it will cause premature aging and skin breakouts!
Can you really DEEP CLEAN?! The answer is, YES! After testing numerous products there is one that has truly reduced the fine lines on my face and makes me look refreshed; it is the Clarisonic brush! I’m sure you all have either heard or seen this amazing electronic brush that comes in many colors and with various “heads” to target your particular skin type. I have the Clarisonic Mia that retails at $99 and it has the sensitive skin brush head and only one speed. There is a step up system the Mia2 ($50 price difference) that has two speeds and a customized change setting with a 60 minute timer so you do not over exfoliate. The Clarisonic systems are on the pricier end, but I am here to tell you they are WORTH it!
The first time I ever used the system I used an exfoliating cleanser with it and it was WAY to harsh and I broke out for days and vowed to never use it again, but this was ALL my FAULT and I hate I quit using it as long as I did. I now use my Clarisonic with the Purity Cleanser by Philosphophy. I have never been big on, “name brand” face wash, but now I am hooked. This past December I was walking around in Ulta and realized I was out of face wash, so I asked the lady which one was for sensitive skin, but still strong enough to take off my stubborn eye makeup; without hesitation she told my about, “Purity.” I have raved about this cleanser to probably every female in my family and all of my co-workers! It literally takes off all of my eye makeup (including glue from false lashes) with just gentle massaging. This cleanser is also the perfect pair to the Clarisonic!
Another tip for the Clarisonic for Sensitive Skin is only use once a day. I have found that over exfoliating causes me to breakout, so I only use my Clarisonic to do a deep clean at night and I skip it in the mornings.
Moisturizer: My current nighttime moisturizer is the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Intensive Moisturizer. I will be honest and say that I change up nighttime moisturizer a LOT! I just recently got this one because I am a huge fan of StriVectin products. You may have heard of StriVectin because they have amazing cream for stretch marks, but their entire skin care line is awesome! It really has smoothed and plumped my face up and I wake up with that dewiness that I love! Ladies who are in your 20’s and think moisturizer is only for more mature skin, IT’S NOT and you should immediately go buy a moisturizer after you read this! The first signs of aging only begin to show up in our 20’s, but we can help prevent!

Tell her to alternate days with it as well and DO NOT PRESS it into her face. I was pressing down thinking it was doing more and that was aggravating my face as well, just let it do all the work 🙂
I love my Clarisonic and I’ve always heard such good things about the Purity cleanser. I’m always hesitant to try new skincare product because my skin is sensitive and will break out in a second.
The Purity cleanser has changed my skincare routine so much! I love it! I am super hesitant to change skincare products too, but I love this one! What do you use?
