How come every time I sit down to write about New York. my mind immediately goes to the Alicia Keys song that goes, “Now you’re in New York, Concrete Jungle Where Dreams are Made of..” Maybe because this song and the lyrics are true in so many ways! New York is definitely a place where Starbucks lines, espresso shots, long hours, sneakers, ambition and dreams are all in HIGH DEMAND! If you have never been to New York let me tell you, Starbucks fuels New Yorker’s Dreams! If you ever go and need a little motivation just step into a Starbucks and you will feel immediately like you need to get to work (but really!) Ok, enough of that, on to FASHION WEEK! Since I am new to the blog world in a lot of ways, Fashion Week was something I had always heard about, seen and wanted to go but had no idea how to get there! SO, this year as a blogger I started getting invitations to parties and a few shows, but I was not really sure if it was just sent to everyone or how it worked.
Fashion Week is something that is done by invitation only to runway shows, trunk shows and after parties! Unfortunately, you can’t just show up to Tory Burch or Lela Rose runway and have a seat 🙁 Top influencers (bloggers, media etc.) and those high in the fashion industry get invited to these shows to see the new collections coming out and in this case for Spring/Summer! It allows us to see what will be trending in the coming season and how we can better share with you all what to be on the lookout for to purchase 🙂 I have always been fascinated by how far in advance fashion is planned; designers can’t enjoy one season because they are designing for this same season next year already!
I had been invited to a few after parties and a few trunk shows and because I have been traveling so much I was debating going this year, but it kept staying on mind and I knew it could be a once in a lifetime move, so I grabbed my sister and we made a two day trip to NYC to meet the RewardStyle team I work with as well as some wonderful/beautiful bloggers who I love to follow!
Upon Arrival to NYC last Monday morning, my sister and I got to our hotel; the Manhattan NYC on 7th Avenue. I chose this hotel because last minute, it was a pretty and affordable hotel. The room was quaint and fun and was perfect for our quick one night stay. When Anna and I arrived we left our bags at the hotel, did a quick freshen up and wardrobe change and hit the streets to Alice & Trixie!
Alice & Trixie has been one of my ALL TIME favorite brands and they invited me to come preview their Winter and Resort collections and let me tell you…. WHOA!!!!!! I fell in LOVE with so many fun pieces and the patterns and colors are incredible!! The designer is sweet Angela George (pictured above) and she went above and beyond to show us her amazing office and assembly line right there in NYC! She introduced us to her talented team that helps bring all these beautiful colorful patterns to us! I can say that be ready for more off-the-shoulder goodness and denim in the coming months 😉 Stay tuned for her coming line and I hope to be sharing a fun piece with you all! I did go home with this pink and orange maxi that I wore to a wedding this last weekend and it was so perfect!
While at the factory we also ran into Bachelor favorite, Caila Quinn, who was such a DOLL! She seriously was the sweetest person ever!
After leaving this party we went to get out hair done at the Dry Bar in the Le Parker Meridian. My sister had gotten her hair done once before there when she got engaged and told me we should definitely go! I went with the “Mai Tai” a beach wave look and LOVED IT!
After our blow outs, we headed back to the hotel and I changed into my Likely Judith Dress and we hit the town (or the uber). The RewardStyle party was held at Milk Makeup Studios… The night was soo amazing filled with laughter, meeting some of my fashion icons like Courtney Kerr, Emily Gemma, Mallory Ervin, makeup artist Alex Garza and MORE!
All of these amazing women are so beautiful inside and out and we had a blast meeting them and getting a chance to hang out even for just a little while!
After the party we went and chowed down on some much needed food and went to bed! The next morning we met up with two wonderful ladies/bloggers Teggy French & Kelsey Kaplan who are two talented women and ones to follow for sure! We met them and ate at the cutest most amazing brunch spot, Sarabeth’s which was near Central Park! On the way to the restaurant the streets are lined with horse drawn carriages to take you on a ride through the beautiful park!
The food was INCREDIBLE!!!! We all got something different, but because it was my first time I wanted to try something sweet and savory so we had an ordered of the french toast for the table and I also got a frittata! Both dishes were out of this world! I can also say that the latte’s were especially yummy as well! We enjoyed lots of catching up and left completely STUFFED!
Once brunch was over Anna and I hit the local Zara on Madison Ave. because they seriously have THE BEST clothes for affordable pricing! After we left Zara we hit the airport to come home and were home by bed time Tuesday night!
The trip was a serious whirlwind of moments you couldn’t grasp as they were happening, but were pretty awesome! I hope that you all enjoyed this post and I have linked as many outfits as I can that I wore below! Thank you so much for stopping by and HAPPY TUESDAY!!
