Today’s post is different than most of my posts because today I am going to be super open and vulnerable with you guys! A year and a half ago if you had told me I would start a blog and it would remotely go anywhere I would have looked at you with a perplexed look on my face. Two years ago my sister begged and begged me to start a blog because I was getting makeup and clothes questions on my Instagram weekly! I really didn’t think that people would care what products I loved or brands I had found so for over 6 months when the idea would spark I would quickly get rid of it and talk myself out of it! If I can stop right here and take a few seconds to tell each and every one of you that if there is something you have always wanted to do and are just too scared of how others will perceive you, what they will say or do and this keeps you from reaching for the stars and trusting in yourself and God, quit talking yourself out of it and TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS! In my opinion 90% off of the time WE as women are our own worst critics! I sit back and listen to myself and friends on the daily talk about the things that we want to change about ourselves, improve or wish we didn’t have, but we are ALL AMAZING and capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for! We are made in the image of Jesus Christ and we are perfect to HIM! YOU ARE AMAZING and CAPABLE of ANYTHING YOU WANT/DREAM/DESIRE!
I have honestly had every emotion possible with Make Today a Hollyday. I started it not knowing what to do, when to do it and who my audience would be or even if I would have one. Over the past year and a half I have been overwhelmed, upset, mad and completely overjoyed sometimes all of these emotions all in one day (but really!). I have had people question what I did, but on the flop side I have met the absolute MOST SUPPORTIVE WOMEN EVER whose friendships would not have been possible without this endeavor! I wanted to share this because sometimes with social media all of our lives can look picture perfect and I can tell you that with that one “Instagram-worthy” shot you see, there were probably 10 others that didn’t quite make the cut! I think social media is a double edged sword! It is first and foremost a great way to stay connected with friends/family, find great deals, share special moments and in my case products! On the other edge of that sword it is the largest comparison tool there is! I don’t know statistics on this, but I would imagine that depression rates have spiked since social media has started. On those days when you are at a low point or you question your direction in life and begin scrolling through social media and see the “highlight” reels of friends or often complete strangers where life seems to be nothing short of “put-together” or “perfect” this can only magnify those feelings of inadequacy which can plague us all. We are all more than our social media feeds and aesthetics and we need to remember this DAILY!
With all of that said and out of the way because I felt that it was necessary to mention early and first, I wanted to THANK YOU ALL for this opportunity I have had for a year and a half to share inside of my life and for you all being so amazing and supportive! I would not be where I am today without YOU all and your kind words of love and encouragement! I have had so many of you share moments of your life, send me messages asking for fashion/travel/beauty advice and I LOVE IT! I LOVE ALL OF YOU, SERIOUSLY! My husband often says I say the word, “Love” too often, but it’s because I really do LOVE so much in life and most of all PEOPLE! This world takes everyone and every person has a different talent to offer and that’s what makes us all so different and special!
This week I want to take a second to celebrate a personal milestone on my career reaching 100K followers on Instagram and, “Thank,” all of you for your continued LOVE & SUPPORT! For the entire week I will be doing giveaways with some of my favorite brands on my Instagram @maketodayahollyday. Today kicked off this fun week with a giveaway with my photographer, Sara Coffin! Her photography has helped make my feed the feel I have been looking for and she does the best baby, wedding and blog photography! This is more of a local Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill giveaway as she is going to do a mini-session worth $250 for one of you guys! So make sure to stay tuned to my Instagram each day this week for some amazing prizes as my way to honor you all and I can promise you don’t want to miss this!
I love you all and thank you for giving me the opportunity to do what I do each and every day! You all are the best ever! Thank you!
