Happy Hump Day ya’ll! This past week I took a 24 hour girl’s trip to Charleston with my favs, Sara Coffin (my amazing photographer) and my sister Anna Cate! I had planned the trip quite a while back just for us to go, enjoy some girls time and shoot some fun looks in the city of color that hold my heart! I seriously think that EVERY single street on Charleston is “the prettiest street I have ever seen!” Every corner of Charleston has something magical and the history behind it all is incredible. Charleston is only about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Raleigh so it’s a total doable fun trip even if for one night!
When planning our girl’s trip to the amazing city there was no question that we would stay at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel! I have blogged about this dreamy hotel a few times, but I could blog about it each time we go because it’s one of the prettiest hotels I have seen in my life and the stay is equally as comfy and amazing! Sara, Anna and I shared a city view suite with the quaintest view of Market St. in Charleston where the straw/handmade market is that has some beautiful local finds. You can watch the bustling streets and see the skyline from this suite. Our room had a HUGE king bed and pull out sofa. So, I slept on the pull out sofa and it was beyond comfy, it was even a memory foam mattress like a Tempur-pedic and is ready made-up! We had a table sitting area as well and a large marbled bathroom! This room was so spacious for the three of us!
Our one night in the city we chose to eat at the famous Charleston Grill, right downstairs in the Charleston Place! Charleston Grill was such an experience! We were greeted at the door by helpful an cheerful staff and as we were seated offered a wide array of beverages while being serenaded by a live band. The grill was FANTASTIC! The menu has so many options, so there is something for everyone! I had the crab cakes which were PHENOMENAL! These were not your typical crab crakes with filler, they were practically all lump crab meat and so savory! The waiter said the recipe has been the same for 8 years and it was INCREDIBLE! The atmosphere was so sultry, fun and relaxing! It would be a great spot for a date night too!
The pool at The Belmond is also a MUST! The pool is covered so you can swim rain or shine, there is a HOT TUB and tons of laying out! The Belmond also has a spa on the way to pool if you need a little extra rest/relaxation… The Belmond truly has everything (and more) than you need and I HIGHLY recommend it for your stay whether short or long!
The next morning Sara and I took a very short trip to Rainbow Row to shoot some outfits that I styled inspired by all the beauty Charleston has to offer! I am so excited to share all of those photos with you through Instagram and here on the blog. We had the opportunity have brunch at a place I have been dying to try every time I go to Charleston and it’s always PACKED (for good reason), but it’s called Hominy Grill! They had THE BEST food! I ordered the homemade banana bread as an appetizer and had eggs, homemade biscuit with fresh strawberry jelly and cheese grits… MMMMMMM…..
After brunch we wrapped up our day trip on King Street with a little R&R or as I like to call it SHOPPING! King Street has EVERYTHING you can need! The streets are lined with food, mens and womens clothing stores and everything in between!
If you all ever head to Charleston you must stay at the Belmond and check out Rainbow Row & King Street! There’s a common phrase mentioned in Charleston that ALL restaurants are great and I have found that to be true! Numerous Uber drivers have told us food is so competitive that only great restaurants survive!
I will have a future blog post with looks we took on Rainbow Row, so stay tuned! In the mean time I have a July 4th Shop Tab on the blog with looks you can still get in time for the biggest summer holiday!
