Happy 2019 (officially!) I want to kick off today’s post with a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for following along on Make Today a Hollyday, it truly means more than you will ever know or words could describe! I am so grateful to all of you who make what I do every single day possible and I am so appreciative of all the kind love and support!
I did an Instastory poll yesterday asking you all what you would like to see in the new year and there were countless requests for beauty posts! I am hoping to start doing some tutorials on Instastory sooner rather than later for you all on makeup application and even reviewing products, but today I wanted to kick off the new year with my favorite skincare products and this post is in no way sponsored by these brands!
About 6 months ago I shared about a new beauty brand (to me) called Drunk Elephant. So many of you sent me DM’s that you loved this brand and could not say enough great things about it! There were also an equal amount of people who sent questions wanting follow up results posts and if I loved it because they too had heard great things…. Well… in my opinion, this product DOES live up to it’s hype! If you have not heard about Drunk Elephant they are a clean ingredient brand who uses the best ingredients for your skin in their formulas, their price point is reasonable and basically, I LOVE them!
Quick digress: After having Brayden my hormones started to plummet as all women’s do after giving birth! About 3 months after having him my skin got soooo DRY from the caffeine uptake, the lack of sleep as well as a hormonal depletion and my skin has never look so tired! I literally went from radiating that pregnancy glow to seeing fine lines around my eyes that I couldn’t shake! On top of this I got atopic dermatitis along my hairline! Basically, my skin was thirsting to death and I was not giving it replenishment! During this time I started using the Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Serum and the Polypeptide Moisturizer. This duo is my day time power couple and I love them soo much! One thing I love about the Polypetide moisturizer is it is a pump top so bacteria and air can’t reach the unused product (making it more effective!) I also was impressed with the cost of the moisturizer being right under $70 and with so many nourishing and clean ingredients!
The Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Serum is a splurge, but one I can promise you won’t regret! My sister came over to my house for my birthday and she used the entire combination and was at Sephora the next day buying them because she loved the brightness and hydration the products immediately gave her skin! Along with my sister, my mom, sister in law and cousin ALL use the Drunk Elephant products and love them, so that’s saying something!
A product I also LOVE to layer on my skin right under my foundation or even put a few drops in my foundation for a dewy look is the Kopari ‘Save The Face’ Oil! This skin oil absorbs quickly without leaving a filmy layer and gives your skin so much hydration!
At night my skin care routine is very similar to daytime except I add the HOLY GRAIL of HOLY GRAIL products that has been one of my top products for probably 8 years now and its the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum! I used to use this product years ago and wouldn’t let it run out because it reduced so many fine lines on my face I could not believe it! For the past couple years I had stopped using this product because I did not want to splurge on it and once I went through postpardum it was the FIRST product I ran to get and it immediately help restore my skin (OVERNIGHT!) and my husband will testify that the first night I used it my skin looked so much more hydrated and I raved about it for weeks! He even told me to get on Instastory immediately and show you guys the improvement in my skin where the dermatitis was! I wanted to also share there is a Christmas gift set still on sale and a GREAT value if you want 2 serums and save over $50! HERE is the link to the gift set!
I also just recently purchased the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum which so far is great, but I haven’t been using it over a week so I don’t want to give a full review, but I will say my under eyes are looking more refreshed!
As far as masks go RUN DON’T WALK and grab the TULA Insa Bright Sheet Masks, these things WORK WONDERS! I always love a sheet mask, but when i say this one truly brightens and plumps the skin, it DOES! Sometimes masks just feel good on my skin and then after I wash my face I don’t see any more difference, but these sheet masks are different and soo good!
My husband purchased me one of the beauty tools I have been dying to try for Christmas, the FOREO LUNA FACIAL CLEANSING DEVICE. This little device is pricey (right at $100), but so far I LOVEEE it! So the device is supposed to be a more sanitary version of the clarisonic brushes because it has a silicone non porous body that cleanses and exfoliates your skin…. I will say so far I do like it more than my clarisonic as far as cleaning the device and the way it works! The device has a few settings of various levels of pulsations that cleanse the skin deep down! I love that it lets you know when to move to the next part of your face! The key to this product is let it do the work and don’t press it into your face, otherwise you will over wash and dry your skin! I use full coverage foundation and have the hardest time making sure all of it is off, so with this cleanser it really gets in there and gets ALL of it off! It’s a fun product, I would not say it is an absolute MUST, but if you are looking for a great gentle daily exfoliator as well as cleanser, this product is for YOU!
I wanted to get this post up because these are all products that I will continue to use/purchase for 2019! I would love to know if you all try any of these or have tried them and what your thoughts/reviews on them were! Also, my top asked for posts for 2019 have been beauty so I am working to try and figure out how to maybe try some Instastory tutorials so stay tuned š I hope you all will have the best week heading into this new year! Let’s make it the best one yet! XOXO
