Happy Monday!! I am so excited for today’s post! We recently spent a few days at
the beautiful Kure Beach, North Carolina and had a BLAST! My husband and I wanted a quick getaway that was also fun and relaxing! Today’s post is a fun one to share because I am recapping all of the activities that we participated in on our trip! I am going to do a two-part blog post recapping our trip and share where we stayed and what we ate soon so stay tuned for that in the coming days!
When we arrived at Kure beach Wednesday afternoon we started our trip with a fun visit to one of my absolute FAVORITE places in the world, Fort Fisher! We took a long walk and enjoyed some time seeing the beautiful scenery and rocky landscape! We then took a tour of the Fort Fisher Historic Site and it was so amazing to see this area preserved since the late 1800’s, so much Civil War history! The grounds were beautiful and the unique trees and landscape are like none other and a total must see if you come to the area!
We then drove about a half mile down the road and went to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and it was so cool! We had actually taken our son to this aquarium a few months ago and loved it so much that we decided to go back! The aquarium has everything from a Bald Eagle, to albino alligators and sharks! One of my personal favorite creatures are the beautiful jellyfish with their electric tentacles!
Thursday we started the morning with a kayaking trip! I actually thought we had booked a paddle board trip so I shared a very funny real life Instastory with what you need to be prepared for a kayaking trip and HINT: it doesn’t include pearl sandals π All joking aside PLEASURE ISLAND RENTALS DID IT RIGHT! We kayaked to Zeke Island Reserve because the current was strong so we couldn’t actually make it to Zeke Island (which is your typical kayaking trip!), but it didn’t matter because we had a BLAST! Our guide, Phil was AMAZING!! I wore the wrong shoes and he let me wear his Crocs so I would not cut up my feet on the shells! He led us to Zeke’s Island Reserve, told us some amazing stories about the area and he shared his fresh cantaloupe with all of us! I HIGHLY recommend doing this! It was definitely a workout, but so worth it and a great activity to plan for the morning hours! I HIGHLY recommend taking swim shoes, a bottle of water and DON’T SHAVE YOUR LEGS before you go because your legs will sting from the salt, but if you are prepared GO π
Thursday afternoon we decided to go back to the Fort Fisher Recreation Area and go see the Coquina Rock Formation! This was BREATHTAKING!!! I wanted to share that you can only see this beautiful scene when it is LOW TIDE so I highly recommend checking online so you don’t make the trip and are disappointed! It’s worth planning it into your day to see! The rocks are covered in moss and so beautiful! You can then take a long walk on the beach while the tide is low!
Friday morning we took the prettiest bike ride with Paddle NC around the Fort Fisher Recreation Area and explored the beautiful landscape and it was so fun! We both enjoyed the early morning ride and got to spend our last few hours taking in the salty air and watching the waves!
Save this post so if you take a trip to Kure Beach you can try out these fun activities, I know you will love them as much as we did!
Thank you to Wilmington and Beaches CVB for sponsoring this amazing trip.
