Happy Tuesday! Today I am sharing the much asked for Part 2 of our recent Kure Beach trip featuring mouth watering food spots and where we stayed!

Our stay began Wednesday afternoon with a check-in to Darlings by the Sea! Darlings by the Sea is a quaint rustic beach accomodation! It overlooked the beautiful coastline and if you are looking for a nice, very beachy, centrally located place to stay this is it! We had a large bathroom, king sized bed and a balcony overlooking the ocean where I sat and drank my coffee in the morning and watched the cyclists and joggers do their morning workout!

Wednesday I wanted a quick treat after our trip to Fort Fisher Historic Site so we went and got a cone of ice cream from the cutest little ice cream shop I remember going to as a child, Squigleys! Squigley’s is the cutest little ice cream parlor near the Carolina Beach Boardwalk with tons of amazing flavors of ice cream that you can get in their buttery waffle cones that they make in shop! In fact, the entire parlor smells like a waffle cone π Once you grab a cone of ice cream head upstairs to their adorable little boutique and check out the fun items!

So my husband and I love good food so we take pride in finding some amazing eateries when we travel and Kure Beach did not disappoint! The first night of our trip we ate an amazing authentic Italian Restaurant called, Freddies! My cousin, who has lived in Wilmington for 10 years, told us that locals drive to Kure Beach from Wilmington just to eat a pork chop from Freddie’s so if you like pork definitely give the chops a try if you visit! My husband went with the filet mignon and a twice baked potato and that filet was perfectly charred on the outside and juicy on the inside! I went with the seafood alfredo with the shrimp and crab meat in the best buttery alfredo sauce! The entrees come with a house salad with their house Italian dressing and bread with oil and the dressing was so good I could have licked the plate! We shared a bottle of red wine, Educated Guess and if you like a good dry red this is a great bottle to splurge on! We wrapped up our dinner with the traditional Italian treat a chocolate chip cannoli and huge piece of chocolate layer cake and both were completely gone when we left π

Thursday morning we were grabbing a quick bite before our kayaking adventure so we went to the cutest little coffee shop, The Happy Hippies Java Hut. The Happy Hippies Java Hut is on the same strip with Freddie’s and in walking distance from Darlings by the Sea! I went with their signature drink the Hot Mermaid Magic (the ingredients were secret so I can’t share, but ya’ll it was SOOOO GOOD!) Brian got a regular coffee and really enjoyed that! I also got a yummy blueberry bagel with honey walnut cream cheese and Brian the blueberry muffin, both were DELISH!

Big Daddy’s was where we had lunch on Thursday! Our amazing consisted of a fresh cisp salad and sweet and spicy shrimp appetizer! Big Daddy’s has burgers that look out of this world and a fun patio to sit and people watch the little downtown and pier area!

Dinner on Thursday night was right across the street from Big Daddy’s burger bar and it was at Jack Mackerels! We met my cousin and her husband here and enjoyed a night of fun on the open patio with amazing seafood! We started off the dinner with a creamy crab dip and then I went with the crab legs and there was so much meat in the legs that I left so full and happy! My husband got the fresh catch of the night which was grouper with a sweet and tangy sauce and I tried it and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! This is the perfect spot to go hang with friends or with your family over amazing food and cocktails!
Friday morning I went back to the Happy Hippies Java Hut and got another Mermaid Magic because it was THAT good! On our way out of Kure Beach & Carolina Beach we stopped at Rucker John’s one of our absolute favorite spots and fueled up on a salad with chicken tenders for our ride home! This is an all time favorite of ours and I highly recommend on your trip into or out of Kure/Carolina Beach!
If you head down soon I would love for you to share with my where you try! Equally, if you have any suggestions of places that I missed let me know so I can check them out the next time we are down! I hope you enjoyed today’s post and it didn’t make you too hungry π
