I am so excited to finally be able to share a pregnancy blog post with you guys! I was so nervous to announce after our past miscarriages, but being at 16 1/2 weeks I am feeling much better about everything and praying each day this pregnancy continues perfect without any hiccups! With that said, I was not able to even discuss with you all about my first trimester so I thought it was fitting to catch you guys up and let you know what I ended up needing and using!
Pregnancy Update 1st Trimester:
I have found through talking with women who have had babies and those who are currently pregnant that everyone’s symptoms in the 1st trimester are a little different! Due to my past I was required to take the hormone progesterone for the first 10 weeks and I think that it heightened the symptoms I was already experiencing which was NAUSEA & EXHAUSTION! I am a very active person, not just working out active, but I am always going and so when I found out I was pregnant I decided to SLOW DOWN and allow my body to feel and be whatever it was in that moment… For the first time in my adult or maybe early childhood I took naps weekly! I am NOT a napper, but at least 3 days of the week at some point in the day my body just “shut down” and I could not hold my head up! I slept so much and still went to bed early, it was an exhaustion I have never experienced! Also, I eat pretty healthy on a normal basis, but the nausea that set in made me only able to eat carbs/crave carbs for the entire 1st trimester. The idea of a colorful salad or vegetables made my stomach turn and that was sad to me because I had always thought through my entire pregnancy I would eat as healthy as possible, but I literally could not! My appetite did come back and change mostly back to normal around 13 weeks so there is hope if you are there! I thankfully did not have upset stomach or throwing up so I was very grateful!
Working out has always been a passion of mine, but due to my history and past I decided to take a break from my normal intensive pilates routine and just take long walks. I try to walk daily, which up until now has been pretty fun, but now it is sooo cold! A walk has really helped me clear my head and helps me feel better when I feel exhaustion creeping in! I will probably only continue to walk through the pregnancy just because I don’t want to overdo it!
The BUMP…. the bump has been pretty easy to hide until about now… it still is not a cute round bump at this point, it sort of looks like my stomach is full after a huge Kanki meal! I am actually pretty excited about getting a bump just because it means to me the baby is growing big and strong 🙂
Products I LOVED in the 1st Trimester:
Nausea:
Preggie Pops really worked for me! One of my good friends gave them to me and I loved them! They are basically slightly sweet & sour organic candies that cut the nausea and they worked for me!
Pink Stork Morning Sickness Tea
This tea was given to me by my sister in law and it was so yummy! This is a ginger peach tea and the mixture of these two flavors really helped curb my nausea! I would enjoy a cup of this in the evening watching tv at night too it was so good!
Prenatal Vitamins:
New Chapter Perfect Prenatal Vitamins
These vitamins are tad pricey, but they are organic vitamins that are fermented and easily digestible! I hate taking vitamins with iron due to the way they make me feel but I found these to be easily digestible and not give me any issues with irregularity! I take 2 daily after breakfast!
Lotions for Stretch Mark Prevention:
I am loving the MAMA MIO BRAND!
I use this oil in the morning after shower and at night before bed! This oil smells great and absorbs really good after a shower!
I apply this lotion after the oil! I also love how it absorbs quickly after a shower and leaves my skin supple all day! This time of year my skin is so dry, but I haven’t felt dry once using this lotion!
One my my great friends and sister told me how comfortable these pants were and I was a little skeptical due to the price and due to the fact that my other Lululemon leggings were a bit snug in the waist, but these are sooooo AHMAZING! I am not living when I say I wear these 7 days a week! They pair so great with boots and sweaters too for a full day to night look!
I am pretty much still wearing most of all of my clothing I was wearing pre-pregnancy, but jeans are all getting very tight and I am looking into maternity jeans and will hopefully have a review up soon on pants for the growing bump 🙂 I think that tops, sweaters, coats etc. will fit for a while still (or at least I hope so!) The next thing on the list is a new bra so I will keep you all updated!
The 1st trimester was a whirlwind of emotions for me! Mostly excitement and happiness, but there was a slight fear that something may occur, but praying to God every day and giving it to Him is what pushed me through! We are so excited to be well into the 2nd trimester and great reports so far 🙂 I will try to start incorporating maternity fashion into my posts as well, so if there is something that you all want to see or hear about please send me a DM, comment or message! I hope you all have an amazing day! XOXO!
